Thomas Beckett Ash Hall Bus Service 1930-1963

Thomas Beckett Ash Hall Bus Service 1930-1963
by Peter John Nixon - Preface by Ronald Beckett

Peter John Nixon was born 1955 in Ruthin Road just after the first phase of the Bentilee estate was completed. His Grandfather lived next door to Beckett's garage in Eaves Lane and he had a kindly Uncle who drove for them, that Uncle died in 1959 thus fuelling a passion for buses that has lasted a lifetime with Beckett's and anything Beckett being at the forefront of that passion.

One thing that I found during the research and the writing of this book is that it becomes infectious. The thirst to know more about a company that only operated for 34 years and only ever owned 47 buses is insatiable.
It has been a pleasure to research a man who was the Richard Branson of his day, a man who went from cruise ship orchestra leader to bus company proprietor via radio station musical director & picture palace impresario and remained a gentleman throughout.
I hope that you find similar pleasure in reading his story.
