BCT01:001 Brighton Corporation Transport 1939

This now a well know view of the Brighton Tram 74 & Trolleybus FUF5 of Brighton Corporation Transport, taken in 1939 shows the forthcoming 'out with the old & in with the new' modes of public transport then operated by the council of the times. In those days they were generating their own electricity for the power to operate such vehicles, these days would be called eco-friendly.

Jack Turley took very many tram, trolleybus, bus & railway photographs from an early age from about 1938. This view was one of about six that he lent the postcard publisher as original negatives, & had created a variety of sized views, leading to this first postcard & subsequently using the image as a logo in line-art form on all publicity in particular on the postcards themselves to the opposite side of the postage stamp box. Some years following this Jack Turley sold most of his material to 'Dinnages' which started off a library of material. The remains of the his collection were passed to the library follwing his passing away after a short illness.

In this view, The tram marked up as heading to Queens Park was off the wire, with the trolleybus number 5 ready for service to Preston Drive on the 26A. Genuine Retail Trade enquires are welcome.
